strata

Layered rock: the ground beneath terraced into dipping beds, each a flat bench below a cliff, so hills become stepped buttes and mesas; lays bedrock over the cliffs.

Key Type Default Range Unit Description
bed_thickness number 2.0 (0, inf) m Mean thickness of a bed, in metres.
thickness_variation number 0.4 [0, 1) How far each bed boundary strays from even spacing, in bed thicknesses, in [0, 1).
dip number 0.0 [0, 1.5708) rad Dip of the beds from horizontal, in radians, below 90 deg.
dip_azimuth number 0.0 rad Direction the beds dip toward, in radians counter-clockwise from +x (local east on a body).
sharpness number 4.0 [1, inf) How sharply each bed is cut into a flat bench and a cliff, at least 1; 1 leaves the ground as it is.
strength number 1.0 [0, 1] Share of the terracing applied, in [0, 1].
cliff_share number 0.3 (0, 1] Share of each bed's height, at its top, laid as bedrock in the material map, in (0, 1].
seed integer 1 Seed of the bed boundaries.
anchor_x number 0.0 On a body, the longitude in degrees of the point whose tangent frame the dip is measured in.
anchor_y number 0.0 On a body, the latitude in degrees of the anchor.
hard_share number 1.0 [0, 1] Share of the beds that are hard rock, from 0 to 1: hard beds form benches and cliffs of bedrock, soft beds slopes cut at soft_sharpness without bedrock.
soft_sharpness number 1.0 [1, inf) How sharply soft beds are cut into benches and slopes, at least 1; 1 leaves them as they are.
